Load Assist air bags sit between the chassis and axle to assist with carrying loads. Just add more air until you reach the ride height you want no matter how heavy your load. And when you dont have a load just let the air out of the bags and you are back to havinging soft suspension and a comfort ride. If you get&#######xA0;heavy springs you cant go back to soft when unloaded and most people find their heavy springs are still not heavy enough anyway. If you see yourself in this predicament then you really should consider air spings to assist your old suspension. Here are&#######xA0;just a few examples.. Slide on campers – heavy when the camper is on but light when the camper is off. People towing vans and&#######xA0;trailers need air springs when they are towing but their factory suspension is ideal when they are not. Some contractors cart fuel, water firewood and they get heavily&#######xA0;loaded but light when empty. Tradies cart different tools and equipment to different jobs. &#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;With air spings a. Ll of these guys&#######xA0;can change the load capacity of their suspension to suit their needs. &#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;Make towing safer by loading more weight to the front of the van or trailer and just pump up the bags a bit to handle the bit of extra weight on the draw bar. When fitting these bags you are not changing&#######xA0;your old suspension nor&#######xA0;increasing your GVM allowances. When carrying a load the typical pressure range is 25psi to 50psi. The good thing about air bags is just keep adding more air until you reach your desired ride height and comfort no matter the weight. You can’t hurt the bags because they can go to like 800 psi but here we are only talking the sorts of pressures you would run in your tyres. Speaking of tyres the air bag valves are just normal tyre valves. &#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;They are rated to still be effective with up to 2.5t over the back axle which in most cases is way more than you should be carrying and just goes to show the bags are up for what ever you throw at them. Some air bag kits like those that go inside coils&#######xA0;can only offer 450 Kg which is nothing on these. You can not hurt these air bags. There is no maximum pressure because even industrial compressors can not reach the lofty heights of 800 to 1000 psi where these were made. Sticks, stones and sand will not hurt them. The rubber in these bags is heavier than the rubber in your tyres – we have people who live on cattle stations and have horrid corrugated gibber roads and they never have issues. There is no rubbing parts and they will not wear out. They can see out your car’s useful life no matter the age or distance. &#######xA0;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B. The&#######xA0;Air Bags replace and become your new bump stop. Even if you have no air in them the bag compresses and the sidewalls are such that you still have a rubber bump stop. The end&#######xA0;plates are still an inch apart on full compression so they do not strike each other. As such we dont need internal bump stops. It’s ok to run these flat. Note that because they are your bump stop it’s also good to have a few pound in the bags even when not carrying a load to cushion your bump stop and it makes for a more sporty ride too. Here’s where Air Assist Suspension lead the way and beat the other brands… Air Assist brackets are 100% made in Australia. Other brands make their brackets overseas and not only is that unaustralian but when they run out they can run out for months. It also means they cat customise brackets for customers. Some other brands claim to suit 2 lift when they barely reach standard height. At Air assist, we offer height options and can even taylor make custom kits. Air Assist kits use heavier steel components. The end plates are 6mm steel rather than 5mm and we dont make do with C channel like others but instead use 3mm RHS where possible for added strength. And heavier steel means we crank up the welder and get deeper stronger welds. The manufacture and design of Air Assist&#######xA0;kits has been guided by automotive engineers who not only specify materials and designs but specify where and how to weld so as not to compromise the integrity of the steel. The others clearly got that wrong as they weld across the arms instead of with them in their brackets. Others use imperial 1/4 air line and NPT threads whereas Air Assist use metric 6mm and BSP threads… Means parts are readilly replaceable anywhere if needed while on a big trip. &#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;Air Assist&#######xA0;air fittings come pre-fitted to end plates with high pressure gas sealant. Air Assist kits come with an extra meter of air line over others. And its high flex, super strong and meets all the safety standards. Every bolt&#######xA0;and washer in an Air Assit&#######xA0;kit is&#######xA0;stainless steel so wont rust. Air Assist kits can be run flat and still the end plates will not strike each other. You still have a cushioned bump stop and you dont chew the bags out from the inside. Air Assist Load Assist Kits include everything needed to fit and be operational. 2 Air Bags with alloy rings. Top and Bottom mounting plates using 6mm plate steel. 6 metres of 6mm poly air line. 1/4 BSP push to connect fittings in end plates to the 6mm air line. 2 x tyre valves for inflation and deflation – one per bag. Working diagram and instructions. These bags will not be&#######xA0;harmed by over stretching them. They clamp to the end plates and the worst thing you could do is pull the bag away from the clamp so just undo them, reposition and do them up again. But we can make sure you get the right length brackets and bags so your shocks prevent over stretching. You can protect your investment with this kit – when you upgrade your vehicle in almost all cases you can keep your old bags and just get a new set of National brackets to suit the new rig. There is no drilling cutting or welding required. These kits just bolt in using your suspension mounts and either use the old bump stop mounts or clamp onto the chassis. Just a normal socket set is all you need by way of tools and anyone can do it in about an hour – you dont even need a hoist. This is a brand new BOSS air bag load assist kit to suit the rear of. Mercedes Sprinter Van and Cab Chassis with 4″ (100mm) Rear Axle tube – not 3″. We have a separate listing (LA85) for the 3 Rear Axle. This kit assists your rear leaf suspension. Rated at 2500 Lb per Bag = 5000 Lb. For environmental reasons we have moved away from the old zinc plate finish to a new high quality black powder coating with anti corrosive preparations. If you carry heavy loads at all you should consider heavier springs of some sort. But the problem with heavier springs is that when you don’t have a load they are rock hard and not only does it feel terrible but the car handles poorly. If your load varies you need soft suspension when you don’t carry a load and heavy suspension when you do have a load. Cant manage that with heavier leaf springs. The only real way to achieve this is with air bags just like those in trucks and buses. 100% Bolt on – so easy to fit. With a BOSS Air Bag Load Assist kit you can run them with zero pressure when you are running light weight without a load. Then just pump them up when you load up. The heavier the load the more air you can apply. These will safely load up. To 150 psi and carry 2500 Lb per bag = 5000 Lb. Typically when loaded you would run at about 40-60psi. Our customers report back with that as being a surprise bonus feature. Each bag has its own air line and valve. By keeping them separate and not allowing air to transfer between bags we eliminate body roll. It is ok to take a leaf or 2 out of their rear leaf pack. This softens up the ride to softer than standard. Then run a few pounds to suit your liking in the bags. Now you are running on air, even without a load. The kit is complete. Brackets top and bottom. Air Bags x 2 (1 for each side). Air Fittings for air lines. Easy to follow instructions with pics. Essentially you can lift the rear of the vehicle with air bags to level when otherwise sagging in the rear. You can avoid your headlights blinding oncoming drivers when your rear end sags. Shocks, tyres and leaf springs will last longer too. The steel brackets are very heavy duty. We can also help with on board air compressor, tank, in cab kit so you can have full control from inside the vehicle. The PX02 In Cab Kit. Here are some interesting facts… It takes over 20 minutes for each bag to go from the raw un-cured blended rubber to a cured air bag. 1 machine can only make 1 bag at a time. Its not just the thickness of the rubber that gives the bag its strength but also the angle of the reinforcing cords and design of the woven beads. The proprietary ballistic material used for the woven reinforcing on the airbag wall, along with the specific spacing and angle of the weave, is what gives our air bag its unique strength. The bead ring ends of the bag are constructed of 4 Hi-tensile cords at each end, ensuring that the top and bottom hold their shape and cant be pulled away from the Aluminium clamping ring. The center of the air bag (the part of the bag with the most stress) is constructed using 9 strands of Hi-Tensile steel to form an indestructible center support. Our competitors’s bags have less than half these strands and so half the strength. The BOSS airbag machines are operated at over 400psi while the curing process is taking place with very high heat. There’s an internal bladder pushing the airbag case into the mould ensuring consistency throughout the airbag wall. Each air bag machine has over 50 tons of clamping pressure on the mold during curing. Effectively these are desperately over engineered as there’s no way you could ever exert over 50t and 400 psi on a bag in your vehicle. The factory tests selected bags to destruction within a controlled chamber to ensure continued bag quality and identify possible ways to constantly improve the design and technique. BEWARE: Some other brands use crimped-on end caps. Crimped or Banded air bags are prone to popping the end caps out at anything over 100psi and often simply pull the end caps out when the bag is fully extended.
